woke up rather early for a start, around 6:00 a.m. I guess. As I sat on my bed, looking out the window, I couldn't help but recount the previous day.

The morning was awfully dark when I woke up on the 26th. I purposely got up early since I had to attend a make-up recollection with the freshmen and some other sophomores who weren't able to attend the first one. Mom and Dad drove me to school, and it was already raining during the drive.

We were brought over to the college library, where our recollection was to be held. As a few hours went by, the rain began to pour harder, and the wind was so strong. I think I was the only one who noticed its eerie whistle.

And then, at about 11:00 or so, it happened.

Water soon began to flood the room, and when we were just getting to Inang Yaya's climax, it was already an inch deep. Thankfully, the teachers decided it was time we moved to the canteen, but not without getting our shoes and socks completely drenched.

We ate some lunch and I called for Mom to come pick me up since the recollection had been cancelled, but she told me the streets had been flooded, and they were having difficulty finding another route.

At last, Mom and Dad, with Grandma and my Uncle managed to rescue me and bring me home. But the terror wasn't over, as there was no electricity until around twelve in the evening, when I was already sound asleep.

My birthday was spent the traditional way. Go to church first, then la mierda. I didn't get any presents, but that was just fine. I couldn't bring Freya along, as Metro Manila was in a state of calamity, but that was okay too, cuz we just agreed to celebrate at home with Red Ribbon Palabok and Dolce De Leche.
